Guanajuato City, Mexico located in the mountains of the Sierra de Guanajuato lies the beautiful colonial city of Guanajuato. For 250 years, the Guanajuato silver mines were the most productive in the world, providing 30% of the world’s silver.

The 16th-century mining boom led to the construction of beautiful haciendas and fine colonial buildings.


In the 18th century the city was the richest city in the country and an important place of silver mining.


Guanajuato has passed through the insurrection, war, and was even captured by the French in the period from 1865 to 1865.


Guanajuato streets and many colorful alleyways spread out in every direction while most of its traffic is served by a network of underground tunnels making it an excellent city for pedestrians.
